Ammons
Mr. Ammons began his law enforcement career in 2006 with the U.S. Border Patrol in Imperial Beach, California. In 2009, Mr. Ammons accepted a special agent position with ICE’s Office of Investigations and was assigned to the Laredo, Texas and Fajardo, Puerto Rico field offices where he primarily investigated contraband smuggling and financial crimes. He was promoted to a group supervisor position in 2015, overseeing the National Security Investigations Group in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
In 2017, Mr. Ammons accepted a position as Section Chief of the Trade Transparency Unit (TTU) in HSI Headquarters. As Section Chief, he developed and implemented HSI’s response to trade-based money laundering through TTUs global partnerships.
Mr. Ammons was promoted to the position of Director for the National Targeting Center’s Investigations Division in 2019 where he led a five-member management team and directed the efforts of 65 investigators, analysts, accountants, data scientists, and industry representatives from four federal agencies and three private firms. As director he continued to oversee the TTU but also led HSIs National Initiative for Illicit Trade Enforcement, Financial Institution Integrity Initiative, and Passenger/Cargo Operations.
Mr. Ammons entered on duty in 2021 as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge for HSI New Orleans where he leads the Border Enforcement Security Task Forces and Cyber Crime Investigations groups.
Education
Mr. Ammons holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Charleston Southern University as well as a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from St. Mary’s University.
Mr. Ammons lives in New Orleans with his wife and three children.
