Overview
A case study of an international financial investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) into a sophisticated Chinese transnational criminal organization (TCO) and its deadly fentanyl trafficking network. The investigation included the exploitation of multiple SARs, bank records, cryptocurrency transactions, third party payment processors, and US-based cyber infrastructure. It was led by HSI and included support from multiple federal law enforcement agencies, including DEA, CBP, US Postal Inspection Service, and US Secret Service, as well as state and local law enforcement from Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, and Georgia, and the Pennsylvania National Guard.
