Overview
The Regulations in turn allow for the ability to cultivate, transport, process, sell, import, export, research and develop medicinal cannabis and medicinal cannabis products under a regulated licensing regime that includes licenses across several categories and types.
This industry and its shoots is expected to be a major revenue earner for government of Barbados however the practical considerations of the growth of the sector will create significant risk for the financial services sector in Barbados and will have implications for Correspondent Banking relationships. It is expected to contribute directly and indirectly 20% of GDP. Compliance Officers are the gatekeepers and this presentation will speak to the impact of the legislation on them and their institutions as individuals eek financing relationships through loans, deposits, wires, salary accounts and other forms of banking activities.
