I currently hold the rank of Commander of the Australian Federal Police (AFP). My current position is Commander Counter Terrorism Investigations North within the AFP;s Counter Terrorism and Special Investigations Command (CTSI).
In this role I have oversight of counter terrorism investigations for the AFP in the ACT, NSW, Qld and NT.. In addition, I am responsible for CTSI’s National Specialist Services which includes the AFP’s Community Liaison Teams. I commenced in this role in May 2020.
In respect of matters pertaining to my work, I report to Assistant Commissioner Counter Terrorism and Special Investigations, Scott Lee. In turn, AC CTSI reports to Deputy Commissioner Investigations, Ian McCartney.
I have been employed by the AFP since May 1998 and have worked in a number of roles in different areas during this time. My roles have included working in crime operations, organised crime organised crime, international operations, protection operations and counter terrorism.
During the course of my career with the AFP, I have worked on operations across a range of crime types with international law enforcement partners, including ‘Five Eyes’ partners such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United Kingdom Metropolitan Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the New Zealand Police.
I have exercised command over AFP operations resulting in prosecutions where it has been necessary to make public interest immunity claims or applications for suppression and non-publication orders in respect of AFP information and information obtained from foreign law enforcement partners.
