Oben Regulatory is a regulatory consultancy firm established in Jersey. Nicola has been one of the principals of Oben for 6 years and, prior to that, served over 17 years as a supervisor at Jersey’s regulator, the Jersey Financial Services Commission.
Nicola has worked with many businesses that have had deficiencies in systems and controls and where there have been significant conduct risk issues. Often appointed as skilled person, she has been involved in many complex regulatory issues and is able to get to and identify the root cause. This involves analysing client files, working with board members, addressing issues of corporate governance as well as working with compliance personnel to strengthen controls and also includes working with other regulators and law enforcement agencies in Jersey, Guernsey and the UK.
Nicola has considerable expertise of collective investment funds, funds and investment businesses and of the trust and company business sector and has often seen how such services can be used and abused. As can be seen from her regular Linkedin posts, she has a keen interest in all things money laundering.
