Howes
David Howes is the Global Head, Financial Crime Compliance, Conduct, and Compliance Frameworks at Standard Chartered Bank. He has been closely involved in setting the strategy for, and implementing, the Bank’s enhancements to its FCC control environment over several years, and now leads the function. He has worked on pan-industry initiatives throughout his 15 years at Standard Chartered, and is serving currently as a Co-Chair of the Wolfsberg Group, an association of thirteen global banks which aims to develop frameworks and guidance for the management of financial crime risks.
Before joining SCB in 2007 he was a Senior Policy Advisor to HM Treasury in London. His early career was with Reuters in the UK, the US, Japan, Vietnam and Malaysia. In addition to his role at Standard Chartered, he is a current Non Executive Director of Seychelles International Mercantile Bank, the largest bank in the Seychelles; and Zai, a fintech that is changing the payments landscape.
