Vanessa is currently a Director in Morgan Stanley’s Global Financial Crime team based in Mumbai, India.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2019, Vanessa worked in various positions with Barclays, Ernst & Young, ONGC and the AP Moller Maersk Group in Mumbai, India and New York, USA. Vanessa’s experience spans multiple industries with roles in the area of Risk Advisory Consulting, Internal Audit, Compliance Project Management and Financial Crime Prevention with experience across the three lines of defence.
She is a 2014 recipient of the prestigious Mountbatten-Barclays Graduate Trainee Scholarship.
Vanessa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and an MBA (Technology Management) from NMIMS University, Mumbai.
She is the first woman in India to achieve the CAMS-Audit credential from ACAMS and has also completed the Compliance Career Academy program from Cambridge University’s Judge Business School. Her CAMS-Audit whitepaper titled ‘Éyes Wide Shut: Understanding Unconscious Bias in AML Audits’ discusses how auditors and organizations to use research on biases to augment automated solutions and mitigate risks in the different stages of an AML audit, rather than merely create technology that perpetuates the bias.
