Sissy is a Senior Manager within Protiviti’s Internal Audit and Financial Advisory Practice. She has over ten (10) years in regulatory, internal audit, and consulting experience. Sissy has specialized experience in Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) / Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Sanctions compliance.
Sissy manages BSA/AML and Sanctions independent audits for several large community banks, private banks, and international banks. Her specialization in high risk areas is related to Foreign Entities, Foreign Correspondent Relationships, Non-Resident Aliens, and Politically Exposed Persons. Additionally, she also performs work with top tier financial institutions to address regulatory enforcement actions.
Prior to joining Protiviti, Sissy was with RSM US LLP were she performed BSA/AML and Sanctions internal audits and consulted with large domestic financial institutions on the design of Risk Assessments. She also conducted various GAP analysis for foreign correspondent financial institutions primarily focused in Latin America.
Additionally, Sissy served as a Financial Institution Examiner for the Florida Office of Financial Regulation where she led numerous Safety and Soundness examinations for domestic and international financial institutions. She also participated in concurrent examinations with Federal Regulators and was responsible for assessing the remediation, recommendation of issuance and lifting enforcement actions.
Sissy graduated from the University of Florida with a Master’s in International Business and a Bachelor’s in Political Science. She also holds minors in International Relations and Latin American Studies. In addition, Sissy holds the Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Florida International Bankers Association (FIBA) – Certified Professional in Anti-Money Laundering (CPAML), FIBA Anti-Money Laundering Certified Associate (AMLCA), and Anti-Money Laundering for Correspondent Banking - Certificate.
