Nomsa is an expert strong in her disposition in the field of AFC Compliance and Risk Management. She is an admitted attorney with an LLB Honors Degree, LLM in International Law and Development, CAMS (cum laude) and Post Graduate Diploma in Management Practices (cum laude) - currently studying towards an NQF9 Leadership Development Program in Banking through Wits Business School. Nomsa has garnered 15 years’ experience in the disciplines of Legal, Risk and Compliance. She also sits on the Board of ACAMS South Africa Chapter as Communications Director for the past two years. The latter 7 years of her career have been spent in Banking (ABSA/Barclays Africa and now FirstRand Group/FNB) in Financial Crime with key focus on AML/CFT, Anti-Bribery and Corruption and Sanctions.
A keen activist in Gender Advocacy and Mainstreaming agenda in the workplace, she has gone on to acquire a certificate in this regard. She currently holds the position of Retail Head: Client Desirability Risk Management at Firstrand Bank Limited, where she has oversight on various Business brands for ensuring an effective and robust financial crime risk management program that adequately mitigates the risk exposure faced by the Business. Her role is also instrumental in shaping the risk appetite of the Retail Segment in line with business strategy and ensuring the residual risk profile remains in keeping with said appetite.
Nomsa has authored business articles for Destiny Magazine as well as contributed to thought leadership through speaking at AML conferences and webinars.
