Muhammad Mustapha Abdul Rahman is the Associate Director, Intelligence, Investigation Support & CTR Analysis Directorate of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), a position he holds since 2019. On this position, Mr. Abdul Rahman is responsible for CTR Analysis, procurement and development of Intelligence from the financial and designated non-financial sectors in Nigeria, support to Law Enforcement Investigations though the provision of financial intelligence reports to support investigations, policy development and sensitization financial institutions and Designated-Non Financial Institutions, identifying trends & patterns to for strategic studies of crimes and the development of Typologies. Prior to this position, Abdul Rahman was the Head of Monitoring and Analysis of the Unit when it was under the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Mr. Abdul Rahman has a background in Mathematics, Forensic Psychology and Criminal Investigations and has contributed in the set-up and development of several FIUs within the West African region some of which include the Ghana Financial Intelligence Centre (GFIC), Sierra Leone Financial Intelligence Unit (SLFIU), the Liberian Financial Intelligence Unit (LFIU) and the Gambia Financial Intelligence Unit.
