ACAMS Central Texas Chapter November 2025 Event: Global Impact of Scams

Overview

We have all received text messages that we owe unpaid tolls or received a phone call from someone who says they are calling from our bank that we ignore because we know it’s a scam.  But what do we know about the person on the other end of the phone perpetrating the scam?  Often times they are a victim themselves and are being force to be involved in scam activity against their will.

In this discussion we will talk about the global impact of scams from a financial and human perspective followed by what is being done around the world to fight back and what needs to be done in the United States in order to catch up.
