Overview
This free in-person networking event is hosted by the ACAMS Malta Chapter in association with the Centre for Financial Crime and Security Studies (CFCS) at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and the University of Malta, Department of Information Policy and Governance.
You do not have to be a ACAMS member to attend. All are welcome.
What are the threats to financial systems, economies and good governance in the current geopolitical situation?
Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Hamas attack on Israel, Israel’s response and the attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, the global economy continues to suffer strategic shocks. Technology and innovation such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), cryptocurrencies and social media have been abused for fraud, misinformation and disinformation right through to influencing elections, with finance at the heart of the issues. This event will consider the threats and vulnerabilities from and responses to Illicit Finance from an Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering Terrorist Financing (CTF), Counter-Proliferation Finance (CPF) and wider Sanctions Evasion perspective. How do we make our financial systems, economies and societies more resilient in an age of such geopolitical uncertainty?
This event is aimed at all those involved in the financial services and security sectors from banking, finance, trust and company service providers, government agencies, academics and students.
Refreshments will be provided beforehand and during the networking reception on conclusion of the panel discussions.
