Feront
Hadelin Feront heads the City of Brussels’ Unit for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE Unit), a position he has held since 2013. Based within the City of Brussels’ Crime Prevention Agency (BRAVVO), the PreRad Unit relies on the agency’s more than 300 frontline professionals, as well as an extensive network of specialized partners. As Head of Unit, Mr Feront coordinates the City’s multi-agency platform to counter violent extremism, the Local Integrated Security Cell (LISC). He also manages a team that implements the local government’s P/CVE strategy combining strategic communication campaigns, a community resilience programme, as well as risk-assessments and interventions to disengage individuals from violent extremist behavior and terrorism. Mr Feront is regularly consulted by international organizations to contribute his expertise on P/CVE strategies and counterterrorism. He has notably contributed to the elaboration of NATO’s Standard Curriculum for Combatting Terrorism, the Global Counter-Terrorism Task Force (GCTF) ‘s Rabat-Washington Good Practices on the Prevention, Detection, Intervention and Response to Homegrown Terrorism and the OSCE’s guide on Non-Custodial Rehabilitation of Violent Extremists. Mr Feront holds a Degree in law and political science from the University of Edinburgh and a master’s degree in intelligence analysis and security studies from London Brunel University. Prior to joining BRAVVO, Mr Feront worked as an international lawyer and political strategist within the INGO sector.
