Wager
Daniel Wager is a Managing Director in the Cyber, Risk & Regulatory practice at PwC, where he supports organizations facing complex challenges related to financial crime in the areas of anti-money laundering/combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT), economic sanctions, fraud and anti-bribery and corruption.
Prior to joining PwC, Daniel led the Financial Crime Compliance business at LexisNexis Risk Solutions. He also previously served as Head of AML for HSBC (US) and the regional head of FCC investigations for HSBC North America Holdings and as the global head of enhanced due diligence for TD Bank Group. In these roles Daniel helped organizations navigate complex global regulatory and enforcement actions and build durable, robust control environments.
During his service with the U.S. government Daniel served as a supervisory special agent and as the director of the N.Y. HIFCA, a multi-agency financial intelligence unit that was commended by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) as a “model” for other entities globally. Previously, as a special agent with the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, he led investigations into violations of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), the Trading the Enemy Act (TWEA), the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and others. Daniel began his federal civilian service as a special agent with the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Labor Racketeering and Fraud Investigations.
Daniel is a U.S. District Court recognized expert witness related to the BSA and U.S. anti-money laundering laws and regulations. He has served as a guest instructor at the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) AML Specialists Course and has been featured in publications including the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Bloomberg and the Financial Times and has been a featured commentator on National Public Radio.
Daniel is a graduate of Marist College with a BA in communications/journalism (magna cum laude) and minors in Spanish and Latin American Studies. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army with combat service in Southwest Asia and Latin America.
