Christopher
Conroy
Christopher Conroy serves as Executive Assistant District Attorney and Chief of the Investigation Division of the New York County District Attorney’s Office. He has been with the DA’s office since 1996. Mr. Conroy is a veteran prosecutor who has served the office in a variety of capacities prosecuting both street crime and white collar crime. As Chief of the Investigation Division, he supervises the Counter Terrorism Program, the Cybercrime and Identity Theft Bureau, the Financial Frauds Bureau, the Major Economic Crimes Bureau, the Rackets Bureau, and the Asset Forfeiture Unit.
Between 1996 and 2011, he handled criminal trials and investigations ranging from securities and investor fraud to drug and gang related violence and murders, gun trafficking, murder for hire, and conspiracy cases.
In 2011, he left his position as Deputy Chief of the Homicide Investigation Unit and moved to the Major Economic Crimes Bureau, where he served as Deputy Chief, Principal Deputy Chief, and between September 2015 and June 2020 as Chief. In MECB, Chris helped develop and oversee the work of the International Money Movement Center, the Financial Intelligence Unit, and the financial crime component of the Counter Terrorism Program. MECB conducts investigations into all types of financial crimes including investor fraud, sanctions evasion and terror finance, money laundering, and bank, securities, commodities, mortgage, and other financial frauds.
In 2014, Mr. Conroy received the U.S. Department of Justice Assistant Attorney General Award for Exceptional Service for his work on the prosecution team of BNP Paribas Bank. In 2019, he received the NYC Bar Association’s Thomas E. Dewey Award, presented each year to an outstanding assistant district attorney in each of the City’s District Attorney’s Offices. He has spoken at various conferences, including the DANY Financial and Cyber Crime Symposium, the Cambridge International Symposium on Economic Crime, and the American Conference Institute’s Economic Sanctions Boot Camp.
