Because money laundering cases often cross national borders, legal disparities routinely arise. One perpetual battle is being fought between courts in one country that insist on disclosures that are illegal in another country on privacy grounds. In a global economy with billions of transactions a day, requests for information captured electronically are becoming more common. Unlike the European Union (EU), the U.S. has no comprehensive privacy law. How should you deal with multinational requests without violating EU or U.S. rules? This session will guide you through the legal wrangling so you can understand your obligations and stay out of trouble on both sides of the Atlantic.
