After a thorough and objective selection process, reviewing
proposals from several test development companies, ACAMS chose Applied
Measurement Professionals, Inc. (AMP), a corporation in Kansas, United States,
to help us develop the exam. AMP provided job analysis, examination
development, administration, scoring and reporting services for ACAMS.
AMP has extensive research, testing, measurement, management,
publishing and technology experience. It has conducted more than 100 job
analysis studies over the past 15 years and annually assesses more than 200,000
candidates (in the U.S. and abroad) for the 60+ credentialing organizations it
serves. It has the resources to control all aspects of design, production and
distribution, while being responsive, flexible, cost-effective, time-efficient
and providing absolute security of all data and records. AMP was incorporated
in 1982. For more information, see their website www.goAMP.com.
AMP and ACAMS' "Job Analysis Committee," a select group of
industry professionals and experts, developed a survey which was sent out to
hundreds of practitioners in the field for the purpose of preparing job
analyses. This committee defined job or knowledge areas to build the test
specifications, which are important in terms of the validity of the exam
content. Later, AMP's psychometric staff monitored item development workshops.
The items, which became questions on the exam, were directly linked to the
initial job-related test specifications.
AMP then guided subject matter experts in the question-writing
process, and brought them in for test development workshops. The result was a
psychometrically sound and legally defensible exam that assures the quality and
soundness of the CAMS certification program.
AMP's staff guided a panel of experts as they considered the
final examination form during a passing point study. The panel defined the
characteristics of a "minimally competent practitioner" during this study and
evaluated items that would present difficulties for such candidates. The
examination is a criterion-referenced exam intended to only pass those
competent to do the job. |
